TeraMedica, Sun offer image sharing app

TeraMedica Healthcare Technology, along with its partner Sun Microsystems of Santa Clara, Calif., will now offer a pre-configured solution for viewing and managing clinical images from different modalities in order to bring secure image sharing to the point of care.

"The Evercore Enterprise Imaging Interchange combines Sun's Master Patient Index and Enterprise Services Bus with the Evercore-Univision and Smartstore modules. This TeraMedica/Sun solution captures and aggregates digital images from multiple diagnostic sources, assembling them into a logical single patient view, and delivering the images directly to the caregiver through the Evercore viewer," said Jim Prekop, CEO of the Milwaukee-based TeraMedica.

The solution is built with the Sun Java Composite Application Platform Suite, an integration and composite application development platform, and the TeraMedica Evercore Clinical Enterprise Suite, an integration, management and distribution platform of patient-centric clinical content in the healthcare domain.

"Sun's software infrastructure technology, including GlassFish Enterprise Service Bus, Java Composite Application Platform Suite, and our identity management portfolio of products helps healthcare organizations around the world securely exchange information, manage patient identities and consolidate disparate health records into single patient views," said Wayne Owens, director of Sun's global healthcare software practice.
