MEDecision, a provider of collaborative health care management solutions, has entered into a letter of intent to acquire health information exchange (HIE) provider HxTechnologies (HxTI) for an undisclosed amount.

Closing of the transaction is expected in the second quarter, subject to negotiation of a definitive purchase agreement, according to the Wayne, Pa.-based MEDecision.

The company said that the transaction allows MEDecision to embed HxTI's HIE technologies into its Alineo collaborative healthcare management platform and Nexalign HIE service. Doing so will augment Alineo's analytics capabilities. The technology will extend Nexalign's ability to assemble and deliver clinical information, including diagnostic-quality medical images. Adding capabilities of the Philadelphia-based HxTI to Alineo and Nexalign extends MEDecision's capability to generate and deliver real-time data for interoperable EHRs.
