Philips, Hansen integrate x-ray, robotic catheter for cardiac arrhythmias

Royal Philips Electronics and Hansen Medical have agreed to co-develop integrated products that may simplify cardiac procedures to diagnose and treat cardiac arrhythmias.

The agreements will combine Philips’ Allura Xper x-ray system with Hansen’s Sensei Robotic Catheter system, according to the companies.

The Mountain View, Calif.-based Hansen said its Sensei system allows physicians to place mapping catheters in hard-to-reach anatomical locations within the heart with stability during cardiac arrhythmia procedures. Philips said that the integrated electrophysiology (EP) lab system combines the proven Allura Xper x-ray family designed with an EP cockpit and EP navigator to improve the lab environment, facilitating procedures and integrating the EP workflow process.
