Siemens scores Magnetom Verio install in England

The University of Cambridge in England has installed a new Siemens Magnetom Verio 3T MRI scanner in the Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre (WBIC) located on the Addenbrookes Hospital campus.

The Magnetom Verio has a wider than conventional design 70 cm and features Tim (Total imaging matrix) in one system, Siemens said.

The system in the WBIC will be used by investigators from both the University of Cambridge and Addenbrookes Hospital Trust, including those from the newly established Institute of Metabolic Science, to undertake MR spectroscopy in a range of disorders including insulin resistance and diabetes, obesity, endocrine and metabolic storage diseases, according to Adrian Carpenter, director of MR and reader in imaging sciences at the WBIC.

The installation was funded by an initiative from the UK Clinical Research Collaboration led by the Wellcome Trust, according to Siemens.
